ABOUT ME
I work with high-performing professionals who want to look, move, and feel athletic again.
For over 14 years, I’ve coached busy men—many with sporting backgrounds—through structured, results-driven training that fits around demanding careers and family life. Over 9,000 sessions delivered, with clients who stay for years because the standard doesn’t drop.
This isn’t generic personal training.
It’s a focused, intelligent approach to building a stronger, leaner, more capable body—without wasting time. Every programme is tailored, every session has intent, and progress is expected.
Whether you want to drop body fat, rebuild strength, or regain the athletic edge you once had, the process is clear and proven.
Injuries are addressed, not avoided—particularly shoulders, knees, and backs—so you can train with confidence and consistency.
My work is grounded in science, refined in the field, and built on a lifetime in sport, including representing Ireland in rugby league and Touch rugby, as well as playing at a good level in rugby union.
For those who expect more from their training—and from themselves.

The Tipping Point Of Exercise

Client Testimonials
My fitness journey with Mark began 5 years ago ... and that in itself says something.
Initially, my goal was simply and somewhat vaguely to ‘get in better shape’ - - lose some body fat, build some muscle and generally feel better.
Not only did I attain that goal in short-order, but looking back now I can see that during this initial period Mark also laid a foundation of strength, skill and movement from which I am still benefiting and building on to this day.
This solid grounding has meant that over the years, as my fitnesses goals have developed and changed, I have found myself being able to approach each new interest with strength and confidence.
Under Marks guidance, I have learned boxing and sprinting technique, how to perform Olympic Lifts, how to hold a handstand, gymnastic routines on the P-Bars and Olympic Rings and more besides … and all of this while getting significantly stronger, keeping a low body fat and generally feeling a whole lot better.
These are all things I never would have thought possible 5 years ago, but with Mark’s knowledge, passion and care guiding me each step of the way they have not only become a reality, but are elements which I will continue to build on.
That all being said, perhaps more than anything else, what working with Mark has given me is a passion for training. Each session with him is fun, thoughtful and interesting and I look forward to each and every workout we have together.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Mark to anyone looking to make their next step in fitness, whether that be a beginner with general fitness goals or a more advanced athlete looking to develop their skillset.

I’ve had all sorts of trainers in my time: the musclemen who live only for bigger biceps, the evangelical clean eaters, the touchy-feely ones, and the cowboys who think training is piling as many weights as they can on a bar then making you squat till your knees break.
Mark McAuley is mercifully none of these things.
I’ve been training with Mark for 9 years now. Here’s why: he’s simply very good at what he does. He drives me, but does no damage; he listens, then adapts accordingly; he is kind, but he is no pushover. Mostly though, Mark really, truly knows his stuff. He knows the mechanics of the body backwards, he understands diet, nutrition, and energy, and is a champion of developing strength (not bulk!), while gaining optimum mobility and maintaining balance, particularly as we age. I am very far from an elite athlete, though Mark has trained many of those. Instead I am a middle-aged woman, with no love of exercise and a great love for food and wine. Mark knows this, but does not harangue me – though he will offer dietary advice if I ask. Instead he works within my own parameters with unfailing good humour, patience, and encouragement. It is thanks to him that I am fitter and stronger than I have ever been, and motivated enough to train regularly.

“I have been training with Mark for over 5 years on an individual basis in both Strength & Conditioning. Mark has the skillset to tailor his programs to any sport which meant for me personally cricket, touch rugby, running and overall general fitness depending on what your goals are. Mark has a relentless attitude to push you as far as you could never imagine with results coming immediately both mentally and more importantly physically. He also is very quick to adapt a session if you have any injuries playing outside sports which to me was one of the most important things as you can always get a session in. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough - Phillip”

Two years ago, I began training twice weekly with Mark.
It has been one of the best decisions I ever made.
I am stronger, fitter, more supple and agile than I have ever been in my life. This is down to the quality of experience that Mark brings to every training session: a breadth of knowledge together with a passion and commitment to his craft that is energising and inspiring.
This is not one-size-fits-all personal training: I’ve done that. This is personal training that is tailored to my needs and goals, created in a spirit of collaboration and challenge. I train early in the morning, often cold, damp mornings, when it would be easier to turn over and go back to sleep. But I never miss a session, such are the benefits I experience from completing a session under Mark’s guidance. He remains truly present in every session, ensuring that I get the most from every exercise and that I remain, to this day, injury free.
His commitment to best practice, to getting the best from me by giving the best of himself sets him apart from other trainers.
If you want to train with the best, train with Mark.
Gráinne, Ranelagh.
I have really enjoyed and benefited from working with Mark and Zoology Fitness. He did a great job in understanding my starting point and designing a challenging - but achievable - plan to improve my fitness. He's also a pleasure to train with - working with him made me really enjoy the training sessions.

I've been working online with Mark for 5 months now and I couldn't be happier. I got caught up in the excuses that I was a busy person with little time for consistent fitness and focus on my health. Mark has worked patiently with me to help create solid foundations to build lasting and sustainable changes both physically, with my nutrition and mentally.
He's been a great source of accountability and he is nice but firm and puts me in my place when needed. Just what you want from a great trainer.
Thanks Mark for helping me with my transformation to date. I'm excited to have seen the results so far and can't wait to continue with your guidance.
Highly recommend Mark to anyone who wants to be in shape but needs some direction and accountability to achieve it.
